Spirits of the Wind is dedicated to composer’s first piano teacher, Rosala Leontyevna Molodiezkaa, this work is a tribute to the woman who inspired Peskanov to become a musician and served as a spiritual guide. Spirits of the Wind was composed in Kingsport, Tennessee, during a violent thunderstorm. While practicing for a performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. , Peskanov seemed to hear Rosalia’s voice carried by the wind, inspiring this deeply personal composition.
